Since the beginning of C4T we’ve always tried to spend a portion of the money at a local level. It’s not always easy, buying local is often times more expensive. That said it’s also at a human scale, when I talked with Barry @orleanscycle about the project he worked with us to get much higher quality bikes than we would have been able to afford, at the same prices we’ve paid for much lower quality in the past. Bikes are just like tools, buy quality and it lasts. When Toys For Tots receives bikes it’s a big deal, due to the limited availability candidates are often hand picked from their communities based on need.
